Small Can Be Huge

I was reading about the 75,000 thousand jobs that have been lost in these past few months. It is scary to think that behind that huge number are people. 75,000 people have lost their work, their identity, their way of supporting themselves and their families.

The hugeness of that is hard to take in. And trying to get your head around how you can help feels equally daunting.

Then I saw this wonderful new website,
Small Can Be Big. The site profiles families in the Boston area who are in need, and gives specifics on how much money they need to get them through a difficult time.

It’s a way for us to give money directly to the people in our community who are on the verge of homelessness or crisis. Like a mother who is trying keep all her kids together and needs a car to help transport them. Or a family that needs a security deposit so they can move into a better apartment. Or a grandmother who is supporting her grandson but lost her business in a fire and needs money for back rent. You can donate any amount, and you can see on the website how close they are to their goal.

These are scary times, and we need to turn to each other to make it through. Here’s a song to inspire us. (Turn up the volume and forgive the cheesy pictures of waves, it’s the best the YouTube had to offer)
